On May 26, 2015, 29-year-old Amanda Jo Scott of Fayetteville, Tennessee, was fatally shot at a residence on Timbercrest Drive in Huntsville, Alabama. Investigations by the Huntsville Police Department revealed that Scott and a male friend had visited the home to meet another man for a drug transaction. During their interaction, the man displayed his handgun, which accidentally discharged, striking Scott. She succumbed to her injuries before emergency responders arrived.
