On June 8, 2015, 20-year-old Marqez Lafarion Thomas was fatally shot in Eight Mile, Alabama. Born on December 22, 1994, Marqez's life was tragically cut short by this act of gun violence. The incident also claimed the life of another 20-year-old, LaGuy Allen Jr.
