In the summer of 2015, a violent encounter at a gas station in Prichard, Alabama, claimed the life of 20-year-old Marqez Lafarion Thomas. On June 8th, gunfire erupted, leaving both Thomas and another young man, Laguy Antonio Allen, Jr., also 20, dead at the scene. Thomas, who was born on December 22, 1994, was a resident of the nearby Mobile area.
The investigation into the double homicide moved swiftly, and within a few days, authorities had a suspect in custody.
Twenty-one-year-old Bryan Lamar Moore was arrested on the Wednesday following the shooting and subsequently charged with two counts of murder. The arrest was made without incident in the neighboring city of Chickasaw.
While an arrest was made, a motive for the shooting was not immediately established, and the investigation remained ongoing. Following his death, funeral services for Marqez Thomas were held, and he was laid to rest in Whispering Pines Cemetery in Eight Mile, Alabama.
