On September 17, 2015, 55-year-old Randall Darrel Buckner, Sr., a resident of Chunchula, Alabama, was found deceased. Employed as a conductor with CSX Railroad, he was survived by two sons, Randall Darrel Buckner, Jr. and Bradley Keith Buckner, as well as two sisters, Tammy Sharp and Karen Fisher.

The Gun Violence Archive reported that Randall Buckner was a victim of a fatal shooting in Chunchula on that date. The incident involved a suspect named Scott Buckner, who was unharmed.
