On September 8, 2018, Prince Johnson, a 57-year-old resident of Calera, Alabama, was fatally shot at Kirksey Car Wash on 17th Avenue. The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m., when Johnson suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest. Detorious Lamar Kirksey, a 27-year-old from Montevallo, was taken into custody following the shooting.
