On June 19, 2021, Jesse Myrone Rutledge, 35, was fatally shot in Calera, Alabama. Authorities responded to an incident at a residence in the Shiloh Creek subdivision, where Rutledge was shot in the presence of his 7-year-old daughter. His estranged partner, Tekedra Charnae Staffney, was arrested and charged with capital murder due to the alleged murder taking place in front of their young child, an aggravating factor under Alabama law.
