On May 4, 2016, 43-year-old Brandon Omar Kirkland of Gadsden, Alabama, was fatally shot in Anniston. The incident occurred around 2 p.m., leading to Kirkland's death from his injuries. Later that evening, the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested 25-year-old Brandon Lamar Marshall of Gadsden in connection with the shooting. Marshall was apprehended in the 1400 block of Noble Street and subsequently charged with murder.
Kirkland's passing deeply affected his family and the Gadsden community.
