In the summer of 2016, a life was tragically cut short in Decatur, Alabama. Joshua Ashley McLemore, a 27-year-old male, was at a residence on 8th Street SW on June 21st when violence erupted. A call to Morgan County 911 reported a shooting, and when officers arrived, they found McLemore suffering from a serious gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was rushed to Huntsville Hospital for medical attention, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he passed away.
The Decatur Police Department
immediately began an investigation into the homicide. Their work quickly led them to identify a suspect in the case. Scott Doyle Dutton was developed as a person of interest and was subsequently detained by law enforcement for questioning. Following the initial stages of the investigation, Dutton was formally arrested.
As a result of the evidence gathered by the police, Scott Doyle Dutton was charged with the murder of Joshua Ashley McLemore. Following his arrest, he was taken into custody. The motive for the shooting and the relationship between McLemore and Dutton were central to the ongoing investigation as the legal process against the accused began.
