Keith Edmond Nelms, a 53-year-old man from Decatur, Alabama, was fatally shot on July 4, 2021, in what was later determined to be a homicide. Nelms was found dead at a residence on Highway 20, in a rural area outside of Decatur, after authorities received a call reporting a shooting. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered Nelms inside the home with gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by paramedics to provide aid, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
