On August 3, 2021, in Decatur, Alabama, 15-year-old Braylin Dewayne Jones tragically lost his life in an accidental shooting. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Pine Avenue SW, where Braylin and other juveniles were present. According to the Decatur Police Department, two of the juveniles were handling a loaded firearm when it discharged, fatally wounding Braylin.
