On the evening of March 18, 2018, a dispute at a residence in the 1000 block of 5th Avenue SW in Decatur, Alabama, escalated into deadly violence. During the confrontation, 23-year-old Chaz D. Harris, a Black male, was fatally shot. Witnesses at the scene reported hearing the sound of multiple gunshots and seeing several individuals fleeing the area immediately after.
