In the summer of 2016, the city of Birmingham, Alabama, lost a man who, though without a permanent home, had found a place in the hearts of many. James William Griffin, a 58-year-old man known affectionately as 'Street James,' was a familiar and beloved fixture in the city's downtown area. His life was tragically cut short on August 17, 2016, when he was found shot to death in a homeless camp.
