Death by Force

On June 1, 2021, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating multiple rounds fired in the 2000 block of Avenue P in the Ensley neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 17-year-old Desmon Antwuan McGuire lying in a grassy area, surrounded by community members attempting to render aid. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived shortly thereafter and pronounced McGuire deceased at the scene.
