In the late hours of a September night in Mobile, Alabama, the life of 26-year-old Chance Wayne Ollhoft was tragically cut short. On September 29, 2016, the young white male was fatally shot on Rothfield Place, a violent end to a life that was remembered for its charisma and love for working with his hands, whether in carpentry or mechanics.
The investigation into Ollhoft's death swiftly led to a suspect: Deon Johnson, a 23-year-old former high school football standout.
Johnson was arrested and charged with the murder of Chance Ollhoft. The motive behind the deadly encounter was reported to have stemmed from an argument over rims. Following his arrest, Johnson was granted a $100,000 bond.
While out on bond, Johnson's path took another violent turn. On Christmas Day in 2018, he was involved in another shooting that resulted in injuries to two individuals, leading to additional charges against him.
