Officer Charles Craig Greenwald, a 34-year-old law enforcement officer with the Mobile Court Police Department in Alabama, tragically lost his life on September 26, 1996. The incident occurred when a man who had set off a metal detector at the Mobile Government Plaza pulled out a handgun and began firing.
