On May 20, 2020, 27-year-old Xavier Sowels-Portlock was fatally shot at the Sunset on the Bayou Apartments in Mobile, Alabama. The incident occurred around 9:54 a.m. as Mr. Sowels-Portlock was placing his children into his car to leave the apartment complex. At that moment, 26-year-old Samuel Darrington approached and shot him multiple times, resulting in his death at the scene.
