On the night of July 6, 2017, 39-year-old Obie Hillery was fatally shot in Prichard, Alabama. According to his sister, Erica Coleman, Hillery was visiting a friend when he was attacked around 11:30 PM. He sustained eight gunshot wounds and managed to inform police that multiple individuals attempted to rob him, though he did not recognize them. The incident occurred on Sibert Street, near Greer's supermarket and across from Vigor High School.
