On a Wednesday evening, November 19, 2008, the life of Carlos Christopher Smith was cut short. At approximately 10 p.m., he was shot and killed inside a residence at 890 Southern Avenue, SE in Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch is actively investigating the case.
Following his death, the police issued a call for public assistance, hoping to gather more information about the incident.
A reward of up to $25,000 was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his murder. Detectives Gail Brown and Manuel Gaffney were assigned to the case, and the public was encouraged to contact them or the Command Information Center with any leads. A funeral service to celebrate his life was held on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at The Temple of Praise on Southern Avenue, S.E., followed by his interment at Harmony Memorial Park. As of now, the investigation into his homicide remains open, and no arrests or suspects have been publicly identified.
