In the early morning hours of September 2, 2016, the life of 28-year-old Lamar Purnell Parrish, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Washington, D.C. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and discovered Parrish's body in the 2500 block of 14th Street NE. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident was one of three fatal shootings to occur in Northeast Washington within the
same week, creating a climate of fear and concern among residents. In the immediate aftermath of the discovery of Parrish's body, law enforcement officials had no information regarding a possible suspect or suspects. No descriptions of any individuals involved were available to aid in the investigation.
Despite appeals to the public for any information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case, the investigation into Lamar Purnell Parrish's murder has not yielded any arrests.
