On February 10, 2017, 29-year-old Lakota Barak Miller was found shot to death in an abandoned house on the 6800 block of 5th Terrace North in Birmingham, Alabama. Miller, a resident of Odenville, was discovered by police responding to a tip. His mother, Belinda Miller, expressed uncertainty about why he was in Birmingham that night. She described her son as a good person with a smile for everyone and noted that he was a father to an 11-year-old son.
