On a spring evening in 2017, a domestic dispute in Irondale, Alabama, escalated into a tragedy that claimed the life of 26-year-old Drakkar Fontez Avery Christian. The events of May 26th unfolded at an apartment complex where a get-together was taking place. Broderick Lewayne Morgan, who was 32 at the time, arrived at the residence where the mother of his child was present.
Believing she was romantically involved with Christian, Morgan confronted him.
Despite attempts by several people to de-escalate the situation, the argument intensified. Morgan, armed with a rifle, shot Christian in the abdomen. The shot was fired at close range, with the muzzle of the weapon in contact with Christian's skin. Emergency services were called, and Christian was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead. Investigators later determined that Morgan's belief about a romantic relationship between his child's mother and Christian was unfounded; the two men did not even know each other prior to the deadly encounter.
