On July 15, 2017, 23-year-old Jennifer Raven Nevin attended a party in Cottondale, Alabama. During the event, three individuals—Vida Milagro Confetti-Duenas, Koran Rashad Lewis, and Kendrick Ky'Andre Marshall—mistakenly believed Nevin was involved in a plot to rob them earlier that evening. Confetti-Duenas, a friend of Nevin's, convinced her to leave the party and get into a vehicle with the group.
