Joshua Todd Smith, a 38-year-old man from Stevenson, Alabama, was fatally shot on January 16, 2018, in a violent altercation that shocked his family and the local community. Smith was found with gunshot wounds at a residence in the rural town of Stevenson, located in Jackson County. Authorities were alerted to the scene in the early evening after reports of gunfire in the area. Despite attempts by paramedics to save him, Smith was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting.
