On the night of August 7, 2021, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Jackson County Sheriff's deputies, along with officers from the Stevenson and Hollywood Police Departments, responded to a shooting incident on County Road 287 in Stevenson, Alabama. Upon arrival, they found 40-year-old James Jeremy Owens suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite his injuries, Owens was able to provide authorities with a description of the shooter before being airlifted to a Chattanooga hospital.
