On November 27, 2014, in Stevenson, Alabama, 32-year-old Christopher Paul Timberlake of Hollywood was fatally shot around 8:00 PM on Milltown Circle, near downtown Stevenson. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department investigated the incident, with Sheriff Chuck Phillips reporting that David Hutchins went to the Stevenson Police Department and confessed to shooting Timberlake at his home. Hutchins was subsequently charged with murder early the following morning.
