On February 11, 2018, 17-year-old Brandon Alexander Burpo of Clay, Alabama, was fatally shot near his residence on Winchester Hills Way. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Burpo received a phone call that led him to step outside to meet someone. Upon approaching a vehicle, he was shot multiple times. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and observed Burpo seeking help at a nearby home before emergency services transported him to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly
