In the quiet community of Wetumpka, Alabama, a heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded, forever altering the lives of the Orsi family. Twelve-year-old Cadence Rose Orsi, a young girl with a friendly and popular personality, was killed on July 7, 2018. This devastating event was not a random act of violence, but a deeply personal and familial catastrophe.
The architect of this sorrow was Cadence's own father, Robert 'Bob' Orsi, a 50-year-old retired U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt.
In the days leading up to the incident, the family was navigating a period of turmoil. Cadence's mother, Charlene 'Charley' Ann Orsi, a 44-year-old third-grade teacher and also an Air Force veteran, had filed for divorce just nine days prior. This legal action, coupled with allegations of potential drug abuse by Robert Orsi, appears to have been a catalyst for the tragic events that followed.
On that fateful Saturday, Charlene Orsi arrived at the family home to pick up her children. It was then that Robert Orsi initiated his horrific plan. He shot and killed his wife near the garage. Their 13-year-old daughter witnessed this and managed to escape to a neighbor's home to seek help. Inside the house, Robert Orsi shot his 12-year-old triplet daughters, including Cadence. After the shootings, he doused the home in gasoline and set it ablaze before taking his own life.
When the fire was extinguished, authorities discovered the bodies of Cadence and her father inside the home. Tragically, Cadence and her mother, Charlene, were both victims of the murder-suicide. While two of the triplets were shot multiple times, they miraculously survived and were able to escape the burning house. The suspect in the deaths of Cadence and Charlene Orsi was Robert Orsi, who died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. As the perpetrator did not survive, there were no arrests or a trial to follow this devastating family tragedy.
