Just nine days before her death, Charlene had taken a decisive step to change her family's
circumstances by filing for divorce from her husband of 23 years, Robert 'Bob' Orsi, a retired U.S. Air Force veteran. Court documents revealed that she was seeking full custody of their children, citing her husband's alleged drug use as a significant reason for the dissolution of their marriage. This legal action appears to have been the catalyst for the tragic events that followed, turning a familial dispute into a fatal encounter.
On the evening of July 7, 2018, the conflict reached its devastating climax. After Charlene arrived at the family home, her husband, Bob Orsi, opened fire, fatally shooting her and their 12-year-old triplet daughters. In the midst of the horror, two of the triplets, despite sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, managed to escape the home as their father began to douse the residence in gasoline. The couple's eldest daughter, then 13, also escaped unharmed. After his deadly rampage, Bob Orsi set the house ablaze and then turned the gun on himself, taking his own life.

Inside, they found the bodies of Charlene Ann Orsi, one of her triplet daughters, and her husband, Bob Orsi. The two surviving triplets were transported to a nearby hospital and were reported to be in stable condition. In the aftermath, the investigation confirmed the incident as a murder-suicide, with Bob Orsi as the perpetrator. As he was deceased, no arrests were made in connection with the deaths of Charlene and her young daughter.
