On the morning of July 30, 2018, 38-year-old William Earl Ervin Jr. was fatally shot at Dripping Wet Paint Auto and Body Shop, located at 2005 Commerce Drive in Jasper, Alabama. Responding to reports of a possible shooting around 9 a.m., Jasper Police officers discovered Ervin deceased at the scene. Authorities believe the incident stemmed from a civil dispute. One individual was detained for further investigation, and the case was presented to the district attorney's office.
