On August 23, 2018, 26-year-old Quantis Mandel Samuels was fatally shot during an altercation at an apartment complex in Birmingham's Roosevelt City community. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on the 1600 block of Warner Street, where multiple individuals were present. Upon arrival, police discovered both Samuels and a woman with gunshot wounds; they were transported to UAB Hospital.
