On the evening of May 6, 2019, at approximately 8:30 p.m., deputies and investigators from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting at 2506 County Road 20 in the Skirum community near Dawson, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of 33-year-old Jeremy Heath Perry, a resident of Geraldine, Alabama, who had been fatally shot. The sheriff's office initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
