In the summer of 2017, a grim discovery was made in the small town of North Courtland, Alabama. On July 6th, the bodies of two men were found at a residence on Rosa Parks Street. One of the victims was 34-year-old Jimmy Lee Bolding, a resident of North Courtland. The other man was identified as James Lemark Madden, 41, from the nearby city of Muscle Shoals.
Both men had suffered multiple gunshot wounds in what the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office immediately began investigating as a double homicide. The discovery was made by a friend of one of the men just before 11 PM, with Bolding's body found in the front yard and Madden's inside the single-wide trailer.
The investigation into the deaths of Bolding and Madden led authorities to two persons of interest who were later arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder each. The suspects were identified as 19-year-old Kevin Deshaunn Deloney Jr. of Decatur and 23-year-old Tamorris Oneil Bolding of Muscle Shoals. After conducting several interviews, investigators gathered enough evidence to obtain arrest warrants for the two men, who were then held in the Lawrence County Jail without bond.
The legal proceedings that followed took different paths for the two accused men. In October 2017, the capital murder charge against Tamorris Oneil Bolding was dismissed. A Lawrence County court could not find probable cause to proceed with the case against him based on the testimony presented in a preliminary hearing, leading to his immediate release from jail.
Kevin Deshaunn Deloney Jr., the second suspect, remained in custody and his case was bound over to a grand jury. However, in March 2025, following a trial, a jury found Deloney not guilty of the charges related to the shooting deaths of Jimmy Lee Bolding and James Madden.
