In the late summer of 2019, the life of 23-year-old Taheed King was tragically cut short in Mobile, Alabama. On the evening of Saturday, August 17, 2019, gunshots echoed through the Nova apartment complex, and King was found fatally wounded. The young man's death was quickly ruled a homicide, launching an investigation that would soon point to a suspect from out of town.
Within days, the Mobile Police Department identified 22-year-old Angela Janicea Johnson-Evans, a resident of
Birmingham, as the individual allegedly responsible for King's death. She was located and taken into custody, subsequently being booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail on a charge of murder.
Following her arrest, Johnson-Evans appeared for a bond hearing. The court set her bond at $150,000. As part of her pre-trial release conditions, she was ordered to be placed on house arrest and to wear an ankle monitor to track her whereabouts. The case then entered the judicial process to determine the events that led to the fatal shooting at the Mobile apartment complex and to adjudicate the serious charge leveled against Johnson-Evans. While public records indicate ongoing legal proceedings related to the murder charge as recently as 2023, the final disposition of the case against Angela Janicea Johnson-Evans has not been publicly reported.
