On the evening of October 24, 2019, 38-year-old African American male Rodney Fitzgerald Caliste was fatally shot outside his residence on Woodham Road in Dothan, Alabama. Responding officers from the Dothan Police Department discovered him near his driveway with a gunshot wound to the head. A handgun was recovered at the scene; however, it was initially unclear whether it was the weapon used in the crime.
