On a Sunday evening in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the life of 21-year-old Darius Garner was tragically cut short. The young man was at the Legacy at Country Club Apartments on Mimosa Park Road on December 8, 2019, when he was shot during what authorities believe was a robbery. Garner was rushed to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the violent death of the young male moved swiftly.
Within a short period, law enforcement officials had identified and apprehended individuals they believed to be responsible. Investigators arrested 21-year-old Jacorri Keandre Spencer and charged him with felony murder and first-degree armed robbery. Another man, 23-year-old Geunte Dayshaun Constant, was also taken into custody and charged with first-degree hindering prosecution.
As the investigation continued, a third suspect was identified and arrested. Ledell Tavari Jackson, 20, was charged with capital murder in connection with Garner's death. Following the arrests, bond was set at $210,000 for Spencer and $15,000 for Constant. Information regarding bond for Jackson was not immediately made public. Funeral services for Darius Garner were held on Saturday, December 14, 2019.
