On May 20, 2020, 45-year-old Michael Jones, a resident of Columbus, Mississippi, disappeared after leaving his job at Steel Dynamics/Severstal. Jones had arranged to purchase an iPhone 11 through the Letgo trading app and traveled to Bessemer, Alabama, to meet the seller. His family became concerned when he failed to return home and began tracing his phone, which led them to Bessemer.
