In the early morning hours of September 27, 2020, a shooting occurred in the 3400 block of Mobile Highway in Montgomery, Alabama, that would claim the life of 30-year-old Lamar Merritt. A Black male, Merritt was transported to a local hospital after sustaining injuries in the incident, which took place at approximately 3:30 a.m. He later died from his injuries at the hospital. His death was the 47th homicide in Montgomery that year.
