In the spring of 2014, the life of 19-year-old Ezra Pierre Thomas was tragically cut short. On the evening of April 1st, in Montgomery, Alabama, police responded to a call in the 2600 block of Delray Road around 10:30 p.m. There they discovered Thomas suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ezra, a resident of Elmore, Alabama, was remembered by his family and friends for his respectful nature.
His sudden and violent death left a void in the lives of those who knew him. He is survived by his parents, Christie Thomas and Ezra Pierre Dabney, and a brother, Christopher Thomas, as well as his grandparents and a host of other relatives and close friends who mourned his passing.
The investigation into the shooting led Montgomery Police to a suspect. Less than a week after the incident, on April 7, 2014, authorities arrested 20-year-old Denelson Brown of Montgomery. Brown was subsequently charged with one count of murder in connection with the death of Ezra Pierre Thomas. He was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility and held on a $75,000 bond. The case was considered solved with the arrest of the suspect.
