In the early hours of a spring day in Washington, D.C., a tragedy unfolded that began with a violent attack and ended with the loss of a newborn life. On March 22, 2012, emergency services responded to a call on 9th Street, SE, where they found a woman who was eight months pregnant and had been stabbed in her abdomen.
