On July 17, 2011, Pernell Lonnie Dawkins, age 43, was shot in the early hours of the morning at approximately 2:31 AM in the 345 Ridge Road, SE area of Washington, D.C. Dawkins was hospitalized and underwent treatment for his injuries, but on March 14, 2012, he succumbed to the injuries sustained in the shooting. The case was later officially ruled a homicide on May 14, 2012.
