On May 27, 2021, 22-year-old William Bernard Kendrick Jr. was fatally shot during a graduation party at the Bella Luna Event Center in Childersburg, Alabama. The incident occurred around 11:00 a.m., when police responded to reports of multiple gunshots at the venue. Upon arrival, officers found Kendrick deceased from a gunshot wound. A second victim, 19-year-old Jaelon L. Garrett, sustained injuries and was transported to UAB Hospital; his condition was not disclosed.
