On the night of June 4, 2021, in Phenix City, Alabama, 63-year-old Elijah McKissic was fatally shot. Around 10:50 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the 2000 block of 14th Street. Upon arrival, officers found McKissic suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:40 a.m.
