In the early hours of October 9, 2021, 20-year-old Sincere Armuni Tyson was shot and killed while sleeping in his own home on Blissett Drive in Dothan, Alabama. The young man, who had just celebrated his niece's birthday and returned home to rest, suffered at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. His life was cut short in what investigators would later describe as a home invasion with the intent to rob.
The investigation into Sincere Tyson's death was
extensive, involving numerous search warrants and subpoenas. For nearly two months, his family waited for answers. The first breakthrough came on December 8, 2021, when Dothan Police announced charges against 19-year-old Solomon Terrell Cooper of Climax, Georgia. Cooper, who was already incarcerated in Georgia on unrelated charges, was identified as a person of interest early in the investigation and was subsequently charged with Capital Murder-Burglary.
Further investigation led to the arrests of two other individuals. Zycheria Russ was taken into custody in December 2021, and Jacoiah Deshawn Harrell, 26, of Bainbridge, Georgia, was later identified as the third suspect. Harrell was apprehended in September 2023 following a public appeal for information on his whereabouts. An anonymous tip led to his arrest by Bainbridge Public Safety on a failure to appear warrant for aggravated assault, and he was subsequently extradited to Dothan to face charges in Tyson's murder.
All three suspects, Solomon Cooper, Zycheria Russ, and Jacoiah Harrell, were indicted by a grand jury on charges of Capital Murder-Burglary. The indictment alleges that they intentionally caused Sincere Tyson's death by shooting him with a firearm while unlawfully inside his home. Zycheria Russ sought youthful offender status, while Solomon Cooper awaited a jury trial. In a significant development, the Houston County District Attorney's Office announced its intention to seek the death penalty for Jacoiah Harrell. The case continues to move through the legal system as Sincere Tyson's family seeks justice for his untimely death.
