On October 14, 2023, at approximately 6:45 AM, the Dothan Police Department responded to a report of an individual lying in the front yard of a residence in the 1100 block of Persimmon Street. Upon arrival, officers and Dothan Fire and Rescue personnel discovered 44-year-old Dothan resident Bernard Mandrell McClendon, who had succumbed to a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
