On November 14, 2021, 27-year-old African American male Zacharias Devonta McClendon of Clio, Alabama, lost his life in a mass shooting at the Ztec convenience store located at 803 U.S. Highway 231 South in Troy, Alabama. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m., prompting a response from the Troy Police Department. Upon arrival, officers discovered McClendon and two other individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
