Jaidarian Taikerrid McKinney, an 18-year-old male, was a recent graduate of Goshen High School and worked at a local sneaker store in Troy, Alabama. Known to his friends and family as 'Jt,' he was described as someone who was always dancing and smiling and had 'a heart of a lion.'
On the evening of November 23, 2018, McKinney was brought to the emergency room of Troy Regional Medical Center by three unidentified men. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries the following morning, November 24, 2018, after being transferred to a hospital in Montgomery.
The Troy Police Department initiated a homicide investigation into McKinney's death. However, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the shooting. The circumstances leading up to the shooting and the identities of the three men who left him at the hospital remain part of the ongoing investigation. His funeral was held on December 1, 2018.
