In a tragic turn of events on a Monday afternoon, Tommie Small, a 38-year-old male, lost his life in a shooting that unfolded outside the Sam's Club on Eastern Boulevard in Montgomery, Alabama. The incident, which occurred around 1:30 p.m. on May 9, 2022, prompted a swift response from Montgomery police and fire medics. Upon their arrival, they found Small with a fatal gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Originally from Florida, Small was a resident of Montgomery at the time of his death.
The investigation into the homicide led to a prompt arrest. Authorities took 28-year-old Tredarrius Portis of Montgomery into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. According to police, Small and Portis were acquainted with each other, though the nature of their relationship was not immediately disclosed.
