On May 22, 2022, 26-year-old Sheffield Police Officer John Christian Nix was found deceased in his residence from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Sheffield Police Department expressed deep sorrow over his passing, highlighting his outstanding service since joining the force in July 2017.
