In the late spring of 2022, the community of Sheffield, Alabama, was struck by tragedy with the death of John Christian Nix, a 26-year-old male officer with the Sheffield Police Department. On Sunday, May 22, 2022, fellow officers were dispatched to his residence where they found him deceased. The cause of death was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
