In the early morning hours of July 10, 2022, Barbara Williamson Shaw, a 49-year-old Caucasian female from Abbeville, Alabama, died from a gunshot wound to the head. The incident occurred at her residence on County Road 57 in Henry County.
Her boyfriend, Jamie Whitehead, was arrested and charged with her murder. According to the Henry County Sheriff, Whitehead, who was intoxicated at the time, fled to a neighbor's house after the shooting and confessed to having shot Shaw.
Whitehead is being held in the Henry County jail.
A former neighbor and friend of Shaw described the couple's relationship as "a really, really toxic relationship." She stated that she had called the police at least 15 times for domestic violence issues and had even testified against Whitehead in court after he allegedly pulled a gun on Shaw in a previous incident. The neighbor recalled hearing them and witnessing Whitehead physically assault Shaw. Despite the turbulent environment, the neighbor remembered Shaw as a sweet person who would do anything for you, though she was limited in what she could do as she was always being watched.
