In the late evening of Monday, September 5, 2022, the life of a 31-year-old Black/African American man, Takata Floyd, was tragically cut short in Montgomery, Alabama. At approximately 10:41 p.m., police were called to the 500 block of Centennial Way, where they discovered Floyd suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the arrival of emergency services, his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Montgomery Police Department swiftly launched a homicide
investigation into the shooting. In their efforts to identify the person responsible, investigators released a video to the public. The footage captured a chilling scene of an unknown individual, clad in a black face cover and white gloves, chasing Takata Floyd through the apartment complex with what appeared to be a firearm.
To aid in the investigation and encourage witnesses to come forward, Central Alabama CrimeStoppers has offered a reward. Initially set at $1,000, the reward for information leading to the identity and arrest of any subject involved in the murder of Takata Floyd was increased to $5,000. This increase was made possible by a $4,000 contribution from the City of Montgomery Mayor's Office. As of now, the suspect in the video remains unidentified, and no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the case. The investigation into the death of Takata Floyd remains ongoing.
