Deangelo Shaquill Lepaul Allen, a 31-year-old Black male from Anniston, Alabama, was last seen on September 21, 2022. His family grew concerned after not hearing from him, which was unusual for the father of four who was known to be in close contact with his relatives. He was reportedly last seen in the 1000 block of Old Coldwater Road in Anniston, at the home of his then-girlfriend.
After Allen was reported as a missing person, the Anniston Police Department began an investigation.
For months, his family actively sought answers, organizing searches and pleading for information from the public. The case was described by police as an "involuntary disappearance," and as the investigation progressed, foul play was suspected. The investigative efforts involved the Anniston Police Department, the 7th Judicial Major Crimes Unit, and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.
On May 5, 2023, a significant development occurred in the case when the Anniston Police Department announced the arrests of two suspects. Keither Snider, 50, and her son, Gavin Snider, 25, were both arrested and charged with the murder of Deangelo Allen. Gavin Snider was already in custody at the Calhoun County Jail on unrelated charges at the time of the murder charge. Keither Snider was taken into custody in West Anniston.
Following their arrests, both Keither and Gavin Snider were held without bond pending an Aniah's Law hearing. At the time of the arrests, law enforcement had not publicly disclosed what evidence led them to charge the mother and son with murder. The investigation was reported to be ongoing, and despite the arrests, Deangelo Allen's remains had not been located.
